LUM Gmbh (Germany) DISPERSION STABILITY AND RAPID SEPARATION ANALYSERS LUM are a young German company involved with innovative technologies for studying dispersion stability and de-stabilisation phenomenon. They currently offer two products to the marketplace. The LUMiFuge. For Accelerated Stabilisation Studies and The LUMiReader. For Real Time Stabilisation Studies Key Benefits
The LUMiFuge. For Accelerated Stabilisation Studies This system incorporates an analytical centrifuge with an inbuilt CCD detector to rapidly detect a large number of de-mixing phenomena, over the total height of the analysis tube. Whether sedimentation, flotation, or clarification, the LUMiFuge directly measures the stability and de-mixing of even concentrated suspensions or emulsions. Like a time lapse motion picture, the LUMiFuge analyses de-mixing processes up to 2500 times faster compared to tests under gravity, as seen by the naked eye. It processes up to 8 samples simultaneously. By speeding up de-mixing phenomena the LUMiFuge can accelerate shelf life testing, giving valuable information about the shelf life, or storage stability of a wide range of products, with obvious benefits to the speed of product to market. The LUMiFuge has found application in pharmaceutics, food, pigments, agro-chemicals, paints, polymers, waster water and anywhere that emulsions, flocculants demulsifiers, clarifiers, or dewatering systems are used. A computer program, SepView, keeps track of the de-stabilisation profiles of the eight separate samples under study and allows data manipulation, and export of the information. The LUMiReader. For Real Time Stabilisation Studies The LUMiReader is a static analytical detection system designed to accurately measure and quantify stabilisation and separation mechanisms in dispersions and foams under gravity. It can simultaneously read the transmission information over the total height of the sample under study without any moving parts so it is extremely reliable and accurate. It offers sensitivities greater than the naked eye and gives real time data output to a PC on a single sample, or 3 or 6 samples simultaneously. It is ideal for studying rapid de-mixing phenomena, as it uses an innovative principal for accelerating separation velocities up to 10 times without mechanical stress. It is suitable for studying any de-mixing phenomena and quantifies sedimentation, flotation, aggregation, flocculation, coalescence and crystallisation.
