| Laser Analysis Technologies Pty Ltd (Australia) Laser Spectroscopy Products Laser Analysis Technologies Pty Ltd are a young Australian company producing Laser based spectrometry products to achieve rapid and accurate determination of the elemental composition of a range of materials. Based on the principal of laser Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy (LIBS), these spectrometers use high intensity laser power to induce a plasma at the surface of a sample. The subsequent production of light is analysed to determine the elemental makeup of the sample under study. This technology allows elemental analysis at ppm levels of elements in the range from Hydrogen to Uranium. Samples require very little in the way of preparation, simply grind the material to a powder, press a pellet and insert into the instrument. NO digestion or chemical preparation. Principally the technique has been applied to coal and is now being used for wider mineral analysis with a view to more general application across a wide range of materials including coal, minerals, glass, cement, metals, alloys, paint etc. They currently offer three products plus some sampling accessories to the marketplace. The Spectrolaser 1000S. A single element instrument designed for labs requiring particular analyses in very short time such as Na in Coal, B in glass, N in fertiliser. Analysis time approx 20 seconds. The Spectrolaser 1000M. A simultaneous, multi element instrument designed for labs requiring as much information about the elemental makeup of their sample as they can get in a short time frame. Typical analysis time for a spectral sweep of all elements is around 20 seconds. Typical applications include geological sampling. The Spectrolaser 1000HR. A simultaneous, multi element instrument offering a 4 fold increase in resolution over the standard system which results in lower detection limits and better resolution of adjacent elemental spectral lines for better accuracy in complex matrices. In difficult analyses such as coal, minerals and metal alloys, this is the instrument of choice. Analysis time approx 20 seconds. Sample Preparation Products. 40 Tonne Press.
